Dr. Andrea Love
Hi! I’m Dr. Andrea Love. I’m an immunologist and microbiologist with over a decade of experience in basic sciences, translational medicine, and clinical research.
I’m a subject-matter expert in infectious disease immunology, cancer immunology, and autoimmunity and is adept at translating complex scientific data and topics for the public and healthcare providers.
I am the founder of Immunologic, a science and health education organization and newsletter geared toward addressing misinformation and misconceptions about scientific topics that are relevant to the general public. I’m also the Executive Director of the American Lyme Disease Foundation and a columnist for Skeptical Inquirer and the Genetic Literacy Project.
(From 2020 - 2024, I was the founder and co-host of Unbiased Science)
Full-time, I work at a biotechnology company that develops tools to advance biomedical research in vaccinology, virology, immunology, immunotherapy, cell and gene therapy, therapeutic protein production, and more. I worked previously in academic research, focused on differential host-pathogen interactions of infectious diseases, and earned my Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology and Immunology from New York Medical College.
I am a member of the POPSUGAR Condition Center Advisory Board, the 2023 American Medical Writer’s Association McGovern Award Recipient and the SMORE Magazine Cover Feature for the Fall 2022 issue.
I am passionate about scientific literacy starting from an early age and I am heavily involved with efforts to encourage children toward a career in STEM. I was born and raised in Eastern CT (yes, right in the Lyme disease epicenter). After living in NYC, Long Island, northern NJ for a cumulative 15 years, I migrated further south to the Philadelphia metro area where me, my partner Josh, and our seven rescue cats live. Outside of work, I am a marathoner and ultramarathoner, a yogi, a black belt in judo, and an amateur wildlife photographer.
